Introducing the Awesomemobile
Wednesday, March 21, 2007
Man, I've been waiting to tell you guys about this for a long time, and now that the moment is finally here, it's strangely bittersweet. Ha! No it's not! It's totally awesome!

So, a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, I designed a t-shirt. It was right on the heels of some failed submissions over at Threadless, and one criticism I had received was that I made too many pop culture references in my designs. Never one to take criticism seriously, I figured I would try to cram as many pop culture references as humanly possible onto one shirt. You know, just to cheese that person off. Thus, the Awesomemobile was born; a Frankenstein's monster of 6 different vehicles from movies and TV shows we all know and quote from. Can you find them all? Long story short, I showed it to Scott and he offered to to put it in his ThinkGeek store... and that's just what he did. Head on over to ThinkGeek and you can buy this shirt right now, along with a new shirt by Kris Straub and tons of other quality PvP merch. I'm really proud of this design, and I'm glad I can finally talk about it!

In other news, the auction is over! Congratulations to the winner, and for the rest of you, be on the lookout for another Ugly Hill original art auction this coming Monday!

MONDAAAAAYYYYYYY
Monday, March 19, 2007
First thing's first: the current high bid on the auction is $85.79. If you want it and you think you can beat that price, just remember that the auction ends Wednesday. And be on the lookout for more pieces of original Ugly Hill art in the future (if you have something specific you'd like, email me and I'll quote you a flat price).

Second: fellow Rhode Islander and bucktoothed unicorn enthusiast Phil Olivera does a strip called Canned Ham, in which Eli and Hastings have recently made a cameo appearance! Looking at that that comic, I just realized it's been forever since I drew those two in the same strip. Visit Phil's excellent comic strip to get your fix of Eli and Hastings in the same panel. You know you want it. Thanks, Phil!

Third: We still have sizes Small and Medium in the Medieval Friday t-shirts, and I trust that I should be getting notification of stock replenishment very soon. I did order some XXLs this time, for those of you who asked, but for those few who emailed to ask about XXXL-6XL, I'm sorry but I don't think I can accommodate you. My supplier only goes up to XXXL, and there hasn't even been enough demand for that to justify an order. If I get more requests for XXXL, I'll try to include them in the next shipment, but I'm afraid I can't do anything bigger than that. Sorry, people of size! I am a fool.

And lastly: If you want to see what Ugly Hill looked like back in 2004 when I was still straining to evolve opposable thumbs, gaze upon the ancient images in this forum thread and mock me mercilessly.

Join the fun!

Sick Wife
Monday, February 19, 2007
My wife was sick this weekend. And not "oh my, I seem to be coming down with a bit of a head cold" sick, either. It was one of those deals where you're doing okay on Friday night at 5pm, but by 5:15 you feel like your head is full of rubber cement, you're coughing like a pitbull trying to hack up a stray cat, and when you stand up the room spins like a busted tilt-a-whirl. Basically, she spent the last two and a half days on the couch with the dog, and I spent the weekend taking care of her and watching her hair slowly take on the appearance and texture of used motor oil. She tried her best to keep me out of the Germ Zone, but when you've got an over-excited wiener dog bounding from room to room giving mouth-kisses, suddenly trying not to get sick seems kind of futile. So if I get it, I get it, and I'll be giving it to you at the New York Comic Con, Feb. 23-25! How's that for a segue?

Here's the one good thing about having a sick wife; she sleeps a lot, and I get a lot of drawing done. I'm almost three weeks ahead right now, and that's good, because I'm going to be taking at least three days off to attend the Con. As usual, strips will continue uninterrupted. Please enjoy "The Price of Success, Part 2: Stay in the Lines", the second part of Hastings' epic cross-country quest for corporate validation, starting today!
